Saturday 18.10.14 – Cusco – Lima - Santiago.

Stuffed up this morning, we were ready to check out. Suzie was ready to go shopping, I was heading for San Blas, we decided we may as well go and check our luggage into our next hotel before heading off. I checked the booking and HUGE OOPS! It was for LAST night. Further investigations determined that we are flying out of Cusco TODAY and not tomorrow as we were thinking. Not so bad, just did our dough at the hotel, the ‘no show’ charge was less than the room booking, so not a lot lost and we still had time for a last minute shop etc before heading to the airport. Better that way, than turning up for the flight tomorrow, only to find, our flight left yesterday!!!

So luggage into storage at Awki’s Dream and we left to enjoy our last 3 hours in Cusco. Suzie went shopping and I did some last minute shopping and had a look around and a coffee and cake at Café Morena.

Suzie leaving our room at Awki's Dream.
One of our marvellous cooks at Awki's Dream. A
huge range of juices...
...and the most amazing Banana Panqueques.
We realised for all the times we had been here, we
had forgotten to take a pick of the room BEFORE
we messed it up, so here's our room after breaky
on our last day at Awki's.
There is some religious celebration in October, and
it is purple.
Cafe Morena, check it out if you are ever in Cusco.
Just showing the beautiful sunny
weather outside.
Here's my coffee and cake.
I saw Zac and Cass from the tour, chatted and then met up with Suzie, back to hotel, said our farewells to those still chilling there, we had said our goodbyes to Bruce last night and saw most of the crew at breakfast. They are an amazing bunch of young people having adventures and wandering around South America. Took a cab to airport at 12.00, heading ultimately for Santiago, Chile, via Lima, Peru.
Found Suzie, stringing along some seller of some
thing or other.
We came across those amazing Incan drainage
holes on way home. These are at floor level inside
the Priory at Temple of the Sun.
Arrived at airport about 12.20, got into queue at right time our plane is not flying so we have been moved to another flight, leaving 5 minutes earlier. The lounge here is hot, hot, hot, air con is obviously on the blink. Plane delayed by 25 minutes, which will reduce our almost 2 hours stopover in Lima, so the waiting game begins. Plane was 30 minutes late taking off.
The medallion at the airport, which was all around
Cusco.
Phew it was hot here, Showing off my last purchase,
some paintings rolled up in that little cardboard tube.

Our luggage had been booked through, so we breezed off the plane at Lima, as we had been in row 1 seats, we grabbed a quick bite to eat and spent the last of our Peruvian Nuevo Soles.

There is a 2 hour time difference between Lima and Santiago, we are due in Santiago at 11.20pm.

Flight left on time , was pretty uneventful other than a beautiful sunset above the clouds, we had no window seat, but managed to get a shot, thanks to the man at the window for letting me lean over.

What a sunset.
Watched and enjoyed “How to train a Dragon 2,”while sorting some photos for blog and typing up some notes in readiness for connectivity.

Arrived in Santiago at 10.55, took a while to get through immigration, but at least bags were ready and customs was a breeze. Arrived at our ‘splurge’ hotel – Atton El Bosque about 12.45.

Our seemingly massive room at Atton. Much fancier
and more modern than we have had for  while.
Plenty of hot water, but we are still
putting loo paper in the bin,
We will sort ourselves out tomorrow after a good sleep at sea level.
